Sad Day

to be a Red Sox fan.

http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2011/09/29/sox_make_unwanted_history_with_historic_collapse/?p1=News_links

Their season was a bit ridiculous.  They start the season losing their first 6 games, start winning, have the best record in MLB, have a 9 game lead going into September and then they lose it and don't even make it to the playoffs.

LAME!!!

1.  getting more sleep because i won't be watching playoff games
2.no more ups and downs......are they going to win, ah they lost.
3.  it is Thursday!

Happy Birthday Grandma!

Today is Grandma's birthday.....she would have been 65!

Oh how we miss her!!

 At the Rodeo!
 This describes her so well!
 Grandma and Marissa
Grandma and Grandpa and the kids during Grandma's one and only visit to our current home.
 Braden and Grandma
Trying to keep a serious face, which was hard with these people!!
Brandon and Grandma ready to be done with pictures, but still being good sports!

I was just talking to a friend who lost her mother in law last week.  I was asking her how they all were doing and she said she keeps expecting the phone to ring and have her MIL be on the other end.  I do this all the time, or I need an answer to a question and think, I will just call Paulette and she will know the answer!

We miss her a lot!

1.  The Gospel of Jesus Christ
2.  My knowledge and belief that we are an eternal family!
3.  Paulette

My Favorite

color during football season is

RED!!!

uwin

It makes it even more fun to wear red after a 54-10 WIN over the rival team.
It was weird to have the game in September and not November, but a win over the rival is great any time of the season!!!!

1.  internet streaming
2.  wearing red to church
3.  having my mom here to watch her beloved BYU team get blown out!!

Bummer....our summer is over

School started bright and early this morning.....
only this year and next for this guy

this guy is starting a big new school........as the youngest in the school
Both of them are ECSTATIC that they DON'T have to ride the bus!!
(see the smiles on their faces, they are thrilled to be up!)
This one was too excited to sleep, she is no longer the youngest in her school!
And this one is just generally excited about everything
(except having to climb to the 3rd floor EVERY day of the school year, its a long walk)

Can't wait for the report when they get home!

1.  fairly good attitudes
2.  taking a shower without anyone knocking on the door
3.  GREAT memories of a GREAT summer!

School is OUT!!

School is FINALLY out!!!

I have tons of pictures, but because we still don't have a computer that wants to work, I will have to post them later!

Brandon had 8th grade promotion today.

I can't believe he is going to High School!

Braden had a great year, coming away with 97% in several classes.

Marissa made the High Honor Roll every term this year.  She loved her teachers and is sad that school is over.

Brynn, oh this child.................she is, I don't even know.
Brynn is always excited about something.  Except for leaving kindergarten and her teachers.
She had a crying breakdown last week.  Today I went to pick her up from school.  Her bus takes forever!  When she came to the door, she was all smiles.  As soon as she saw me and her dad, she burst into tears.  HYSTERICAL tears.
Like mother, like daughter.
Poor Brynn.
She was SO sad to be leaving school today.  I guess I should be grateful that she likes it, but really, hysterics??!!

She is doing fine now.
She found out who her teacher is, which she was also crying about, until she found out that she has several of her good friends in her class!!

I hope this isn't a yearly occurance!

We are excited for our very busy summer, only wishing our first day of summer was warmer that 62 degrees and pouring rain~ hopefully not a sign of things to come!!

1.  great teachers
2.  SUMMER
3.  no alarm clocks
(for a couple of days anyway)

Her teachers wrote this about her in the program:

Marissa always puts forth a tremendous amount of effort in all she does.  She is eager and motivated to learn everyday.  She is a pleasure to have in class!

Way to go Sis!!!

April Fools

That is what I was thinking the forecasters were trying to do...pull an
April Fools Day joke on us!

Joke is on me.

1.  not enough to cancel or delay school
2.  not getting the "up to 14 inches" once forcasted
3.  warmer temps tomorrow!

Hand Comparison

Our time in Utah wouldn't be complete without a hand comparison.

Grandpa Paul on the left, Brandon on the right!
Grandpa Paul on the left, Braden on the right!
Grandpa Paul on the left, Marissa on the right!
Grandpa Paul on the left, Todd on the right!!

Every time we see Grandpa Paul, the kids have to do a hand comparison!
I think it makes them feel big or something!!

Thank goodness Grandpa is a good sport!!

The Funeral

Funerals are never easy.....and this one really hard.
Lots of emotions, she died too soon, she was doing so well, we knew it was coming eventually, but she was doing so much better.

It was so great to be able to see all of the family.  We hadn't all been in the same place for about 5 years, so that part of it was fun.  Sadly, it was a funeral that brought us together.

Paul, Rachel, Todd, Nate, Jessica, Pam
Papa and Siblings
Trying to get a picture of Grandma's 14 grandkids.....as you can see, it didn't go so well!!  But they are all in there!
 Waiting.....
My boys were so honored to be casket bearers, it makes me cry even now just thinking about it.
I was a little worried about Brandon being able to carry the casket, but with his uncles helping, he carried the load!!
Todd suggested we get the boys new suits.  Both of them have always wanted a suit, but I never saw a need to spend the money.  We went to Mr. Mac the day before the funeral and they had the suits altered in 3 hours!!
Shout out to Mr. Mac!!
They all looked so handsome!
Putting the boutanierre(?sp) on the casket.
Todd and his siblings!

Grandma

PAULETTE BURT

Paulette H. Burt "Just Peachy" Paulette Humphries Burt passed away February 19, 2011 from complications of cancer. She died peacefully at her home in East Mill Creek.Paulette was born September 28, 1946 to Ray Bleak and Charlotte Blake Humphries. She has eight wonderful sisters and enjoyed their friendship and sister parties throughout her life. She graduated from Granger High School and attended Utah State University. Served a mission for the LDS Church in the Pacific Northwest Mission. In 1968 she married her sweetheart, Paul Curtis Burt, in the Salt Lake Temple and later raised their five children. She was active in the LDS Church and she and Paul were serving a service mission to the Utah State Prison. Paulette was a natural people person who always looked for the best in others and readily accepted them free from judgment. She had a sincere desire to see others succeed and rooted for the under-dog. Those that knew her best have lost their best life-cheerleader. She made friends wherever she went and took interest in people others often overlooked, such as housekeeping staff at the hospital and cashiers at the grocery store. Paulette maintained a positive outlook throughout her battles with cancer and was a source of love and light to all those around her. She made us laugh when we wanted to cry and reminded us daily of the love of our Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved being with her family, reading and listening to loud music. She was a hoot to be around and kept young by constantly talking on her cell phone and texting. It brought a smile to our face every time we heard Lady Gaga as her ring tone. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents and granddaughter. She is survived by her husband, Paul; five children: Pam, Todd (Dawn), Rachel (Christopher), Nathan (Sarah), Jessica (Tim); 14 grandchildren; eight sisters. She will be greatly missed by all who were within her influence. We look forward to when we will see her again.

I love that song!! (its a U2 song)

Today all children are in school.
